Center for Environment and Disaster Mitigation, Research Institute and Community Engagement Universitas Negeri Malang held the 1st International Conference on Sustainable Environment and Disaster Management (SUSTAIN) on Thursday (19/09/2024). This activity carries the theme “Climate Change and Disaster Resilience: The Role of Universities in Building Adaptive Capacities”. This activity was carried out in a hybrid manner, directly in the Hall on the 9th floor of Building A20, Universitas Negeri Malang and online through a zoom meeting.
There are two series of events in this activity, including Parallel Presentation and Plenary Session. The parallel session is filled with online paper presentations from 07.00 WIB to 09.00 WIB. In this parallel session, there were 11 rooms with participants from various national and international universities. The Plenary Session is filled with national seminars from various presenters who are experts in their fields. The remarks were made by Mr. Dr. Yudithia Dian Putra , M.Pd., MM as the chief executive of SUSTAIN activities and Mr. Prof. Dr. Markus Diantoro, M.Si as Head of Research Institute and Community Engagement Universitas Negeri Malang.
Several expert speakers were invited to provide materials related to these issues. Among them are Prof. Dr. Nandang Mufti, S.Si, M.T from Universitas Negeri Malang, Asst. Prof. Edwark Park from Nanyang Technology University, Frof. Emer Ann Hirt from ETH Zurich Switzerland, Carla Frequez, Phd from University of California, and Dr. Junaidi, S.S., M.A. from Universitas Indonesia.
